Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! Summer is over and it is time to return to the classroom. The beginning of a new school year can be a very exciting yet a very worrisome time for parents. You might be wondering what could be done different this year to help your child become even more successful. If you feel your child could benefit from special education services or feel their IEP does not address their needs entirely now is the time to act. A new school year is a new opportunity for your child!
Let’s refresh our memories a bit here. Special education services serve the purpose of providing your child with the necessary tools for them to have equal access to their curriculum. Special education services are available for children who are diagnosed with an array physical, emotional, behavioral, developmental delays and learning disabilities. In order for your child to receive these services they must be assessed and have it be determined that they need services.
These services include things such as; speech therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, reading interventions, and any other services, tools, and accommodations which grant your child access to his/ her curriculum. We accompany parents to the IEP meetings and help develop an appropriate IEP that will allow for your child to be successful.
The process can be lengthy and scary if you are unfamiliar with the special education field. Luckily, that is what we are here for! For 20 years we have been working hard to provide children with the best services around to help make them successful students. We understand the importance behind having a good IEP or 504 plan for your child and the immense impact that things such as having good goals and accommodation has on their education. With our services we can take some of the stress off your shoulders. We assist families in obtaining the Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) their children are entitled to. For the month of September new clients receive 10% off their first IEP meeting.
